About the artist:
Born 28.10.1921, Askino, Bashkiria – Died 08.01.2007, Moscow. Painter. Member of the Union of Artists of USSR (from 1944), Honored Artist of the USSR (1961). Holder of the title “People's Artist of the USSR (from 1991). World War II participant. Studied at the School of Art in Ufa (1936-1940). Graduated from the V. I. Surikov Moscow Institute of Art, where he studied under G. Ryazhskiy, D. Mochalskiy and V. Pochitlov (1944-1950). Taught from 1951. Worked in the portraiture and landscape genres. Contributed to republican, All-Union and international art exhibitions (including his solo exhibitions in Japan, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Netherlands and others). Works: "Suevat-Paul", "Stepan Kurikov" (both in 1954), "Mischief" (1956), "The Song of the Old Mansi" (1957), "Girl Mansi" (1958), "On the distant pastures" (1961) "Severyanochka Song" (1973), "She is Still Waiting for Her Son" (1972-1974), "The Hundredth spring" (1979), "Shed", "Lysko" (both in 1980), "The Little Mansi" (1986) "Girl With a Red Scarf" (1989), "The Infanta" (1997) etc.
