About the artist:
Born 11 (24) 05.1908, Kharkov – Died 22.04.1985, Kiev. Painter, People's Artist of Ukraine (from 1967), Stalin Prize winner (1948). Fought in the Second World War. Graduated from the Kiev Institute of Art, where he studied under P. Volokidin and F. Krichevsky (1941). Taught there (1945-1961). Professor from 1960. Works, "Young Taras Shevchenko in the studio of K. Briullov" (1947), "T. Shevchenko and Ira Aldridge "(1963), "Delegates of 1-st Ukrainian Congress Party (Bolsheviks) in Moscow" (1969), "Portrait of M. Stelmach"(1977), "Musical Morning" (1981), landscapes and others.
