About the artist:
Born 8 (21) 05.1903, city Sokal (now Lviv region) – Died 03.02.1990, Lviv. Painter, member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, Honored Artist of Ukraine (from 1982). People's Artist of the USSR (1989). Studied under K. Sihulskiy at the Lviv Art-Industrial School (1921-1922), and under Y. Mehoffer, and later under Y. Pankevich at the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts (1922-1927); trained in Paris (1925). Taught at the Lviv Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts (1947-1974). Worked mainly in the genre of landscape painting. Works: "Still Life with a book" (1926), "The Port in Heli" (1930), "Still Life with a Mandolin" (1944), "Fallen Pines" (1960), "Windbreak" (1968), "On the porch" (1970 ), "Yellow curtain" (1976), "The Crimean window" (1981), "Flowers of Dzembron", "Still Life with Candlestick" (both in 1983).
