About the artist:
Born 19 (31) 10.1889, village Mikhailovka (now Kherson region) – Died 23.04.1956, Kyiv. Painter, graphic artist, member of the Association of Artists of the Red Ukraine (AHChU) from 1926, member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (from 1938), honored Artist of Ukraine (from 1946). Graduated from the Odessa School of Art School, where he studied under K. Kostandi and G. Ladyzhensky (1911). Graduated from the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg (1917). Studied under I.Tvorozhnikov and V. Savinsky at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (1917-1922). Lived and worked in Kharkov (from 1922). Taught at the Kharkov Institute of Art (1922-1956). Worked in the genre of portraiture, landscape, nude and historical genre; created panels and theater decorations, posters, illustrated books and drawings for art postcards, etc. Contributed to the regional, all-Ukrainian, republican, national and international art exhibitions. Works: "Recruits’ send off" (1911), "Gypsy-woman" (1916), "Women-sheperds" (1916), "Rural Gigolo" (1920), "Kharkov South Station in the past" (1933), "Pereyaslav Rada" (1944 ), landscapes "Koktebel", "On the raid. Yalta", "In the park. Autumn", "The Sea"(1950) and others.
